Girl returning from marriage ceremony ‘gang-raped’ in Bahawalpur

BAHAWALPUR: A girl was allegedly gang-raped in Bahawalpur district of the Punjab province by three people as she was returning after attending a marriage ceremony, sources reported on Sunday.

The victim was a resident of Chak 7 BC in Bahawalpur. The girl filed a report with the local police and told them that she was on her way home after attending a marriage ceremony when the accused abducted her.

“Three people raped me and further threatened to kill me on informing police regarding the incident,” the girl claimed.

The police informed that the girl has been shifted to a hospital for medical examination.

In another recent incident, a woman was allegedly raped in Lahore on Sunday within the permits of Shalimar police station, an FIR registered by the brother of victim.

According to the details, the brother told that his sister visited him on the day of the incident, bringing some Rs 50,000 to buy a rickshaw for him.

“I used to earn money through a rented rickshaw and decided to purchase my own vehicle,” he said that his sister brought money for him when a person who accompanied her during the journey from Pakpattan to Lahore committed the heinous act.

The FIR further stated the brother as claiming that he went out on the day of the incident to run his rickshaw and on returning from work, found his sister and her daughter in an unconscious situation.

The woman told her brother that she was raped by the accused Iqbal after intoxicating the woman and her daughter. “He also took away a gold chain and a purse carrying Rs 50,000.” the FIR alleged.

The brother demanded of the police to arrest the accused, who he said had run away to his village.
