Fake News Alert: Kuwait Airways is Not Grounding Pakistani Pilots

Kuwait Airways has rebuffed media reports about grounding Pakistani pilots or engineering staff.

The clarification came in response to rumors that the airline is stopping Pakistani pilots and engineers from working with the airline due to dubious licenses.

Last week, the Aviation Minister, Ghulam Sarwar Khan, disclosed in the National Assembly that 40 percent of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) pilots have suspicious licenses. Hours after his statement, the social media was abuzz with news that several Gulf airlines have decided to ground Pakistanis working with the airline. The story was also carried by several mainstream news outlets as well.

To counter the propaganda, Kuwait Airways had to issue a clarification on Sunday, saying:

There is no truth in the news spread on social media about grounding the Pakistani pilots. No Pakistani pilot is working with Kuwait Airways. We have only 13 Pakistani engineers in the company, and they were appointed after thorough checking of the educational documents and other abilities.
