KARTARPUR: On Tuesday 18 February 2020, Antonio Guterres, the secretary general United Nation visited Darbar Sahib Gurudwara in Kartarpur.
Antonio further briefed about the amenities being offered by the Pakistani government to the Sikh community.
On his four-day visit to Pakistan, UN secretary was being informed about the objective behind opening the Kartarpur corridor, which is to offer ease to access the holy place to the Sikh community living in India.
He also spoke to the media saying that the corridor has been a practical example of the struggle of peace done by Pakistan and for the harmony, the government wants to spread beyond borders.
He encourages the gesture by saying that it was great step and will help to promote tolerance and peace.
He also discussed about the amenities being provided to the Sikh pilgrims when visited the corridor.
During his visit in Lahore, Guterres will also being invited to many function and will go to historical places particularly Badshahi mosque and Shahi Qila. The governnent of Pakistan has also organized a dinner in his honor at the Qila.
While giving a speech to the student of Lahore University of Management Science (LUMS), he stated that in this century, students play a vital role in running the important matters of the world.
He stated that nowadays the technology play a very important role and young people should live with the trend of the modern world. The past curriculum should be revised in order to meet future challenges.
Adding that decision should be make considering environmental issues as the biggest issue faced by us nowadays is global warming.
During his visit, UN secretary general had several meetings with Imran Khan, the Prime Minister of Pakistan and General Qamar Bajwa, the Chief of Army Staff. He has also attended the conference organized for Afghan refugees.
During the meeting, Imran Khan discussed about the suffering faced by Kashmiri in IoK.
And with the meeting in General headquarters (GHQ), Antonio discussed the problem of refugees and the security the region.
Including that the matter of mutual interest of the region was further discussed. Adding that the resolution should be implemented on IoK, for their freedom from extremist government.
