PM ordered LEAs and interior ministry to take action against smuggling

On Tuesday, Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), interior ministry including other law enforcement agencies were ordered by the Prime Minister Imran Khan to take action against smuggling in the country.

Prime Minister Imran Khan while chairing a meeting to stop smuggling of food related items and other consumer products, he asked the interior ministry to submit a brief report related to the proceedings against the smuggling with in 2 days.

The meeting was attended by Asad Umar- the Minister for Planning and Development, Khusro Bakhtiar- the Federal Minister for National Food Security, Abdul Razzaq Dawood- the Advisor to PM, Nausheen Javaid Amjad- the acting chairman of (FBR) and secretary interior Pakistan, secretary national food security and other officials.

Moreover, Imran Khan ordered the Federal Investigation Agency, Intelligence Bureau and Inter-Services Intelligence to submit a report on the crackdown against smuggling.

The instructions of the Prime Minister were based on the suggestions given by the anti-smuggling task force. Progress report on the development of border markets on the western border were presented too in the meeting.

It was said by him that, “The advancement to develop border markets in Balochistan should be sped up.”
