Balochistan: 14 people lost their lives, 200 vehicles stuck due to heavy snowfall

QUETTA: There are 14 people who lost their lives whereas more than 200 cars including passengers are stuck in Kan Mehtarzai area of Killa Saifullah district, because of the heavy snow fall in the parts of Balochistan.

It was said by Killa Saifullah- the Deputy Commissioner that it is hoped that rescue personnel would be arrived to the people who are stuck in the few hours. Further adding that it has not been allowed to public transport to go into the snow-affected areas.

As per the reports, passengers coaches including women and children are stuck in Mehtarzai area and have no fuel for vehicles and food supplies.

Because of the severe snowfall, the temperature has come down to -14C in Balochistan and life has come to halt in parts of Balochistan.

Emergency declared in Balochistan

Life is paralysed in seven districts of Balochistan and the reason is heavy rain and snowfall. It has been declared by the Management Authority (PDMA) that emergency would be impose in Ziarat, Qila, Kech, Mastung, Abdullah, Harnai and Pishin districts.

Jam Kamal Khan- the Chief Minister visited the PDMA office and give the briefing on the weather situation across the province. The media was told by the chief minister after attending the briefing that, “A high alert had been issued to the commissioners and deputy commissioners”.

The highway from Mehtarzai to Zhob was blocked due to the snowfall and vehicles were stuck. It was said by Director General PDMA that work was underway to open the highway for traffic.
