MUZAFFARABAD: Today, Prime Minister Imran Khan addressed the Azad Jammu and Kashmir legislative assembly on the occasion of Pakistan’s Independence Day to express solidarity with Kashmiris. While addressing the assembly he called the security lockdown in the Indian-occupied Kashmir a “strategic blunder” by Narendra Modi.
Early today, Prime Minister Imran Khan arrived Muzaffarabad and condemned the actions taken by India in occupied Kashmir. He said that the Indian government had helped in Kashmir issue by rescinding the special status of occupied Kashmir.
The prime minister stated, “I believe it is a [huge] strategic blunder by Modi. It will cost Modi and his BJP government heavily. I consider it a big miscalculation by Modi. He has played his final card.”
It was noted by the Prime Minister that the Kashmir issue had been delaying and it was hard to draw the attention of the world leaders towards the violation of human rights in occupied Kashmir but it was done by the recent proceedings.
“But now, the Kashmir issue is under the spotlight of world media. By clamping down further on occupied Kashmir, Modi has in fact helped to internationalise the dispute.”
PM Imran Khan vowed that, “It is now up to Pakistan to highlight the issue. I will now be the ambassador for Kashmir issue around the world. I will take it up at every forum,” as he once again reassured unwavering support of Pakistan for the Kashmir cause.
The PM further continued that, “We are facing up to a dangerous ideology: Modi’s RSS ideology. This ideology is based on hatred for Muslims, and the inspirationis taken from Hitler’s ideology.”
First of all, we need to emphasize this dangerous ideology of Modi to the rest of the world. It’s a horrible ideology and it has resulted in incidents like Babri mosque and ‘beef’ lynchings. What is going on in Modi’s India is similar to what happened in Nazi Germany. Intellectuals in India are afraid to speak up because if they do, they are targeted.
Moreover, he asked, “What is India up to? Why did they send in additional troops to occupied Kashmir? Why did they expel tourists from there? What are they doing?”
“Modi has played his final card and it will cost him. From now on, the occupied Kashmir will only go towards the freedom.”
‘Battle-hardened Pakistan army ready to respond to any violation by India’
Prime Minister Imran Khan said, while giving warning against any violation, that the armed forces of Pakistan are ready to respond if any mishappen takes place.
PM said that, “A war is never initiated by Muslims. But we are ready to react on any misadventure by India. Kashmiris are also battle-hardened and they have no fear.”
United Nations was urged by PM Imran Khan to play its role in avoiding any more escalation in the conflict.
“If a war breaks out, I’m saying this to the UN, you’ll be responsible,” he said, adding, “This is now UN’s trial. The entire Muslim world is looking at the UN to play its role.”
At the helipad, the Prime Minister was received by Speaker Legislative Assembly Shah Ghulam Qadir, AJK President Sardar Masood Khan, Senior Minister Chaudhary Tariq Farooq, Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan and other high-ranking officials.
The Prime Minister was also presented with a guard of honour by a contingent of AJK Police. The national anthem was played on the occasion.
It was decided by the federal government earlier that the Independence Day will be observed on 14 August, in unity with the brave Kashmiris and their just struggle for their right of self-determination.
15th August will be observed as Black Day across Pakistan.

Last week, Article 370 of the Indian constitution was revoked by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led Hindu nationalist government. Article 370 giving the special status to occupied Kashmir. Due to this tension mounted in the occupied Kashmir and there were number of Indian troops deployed in the region. The move by Narendra Modi’s government rescinded years of autonomy and gave full control of the disputed region to New Delhi.
