Business Communities should help government achieve economic targets: urges PM Imran

KARACHI: The Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan on Wednesday said the business community was fully facilitated by the government, as it wanted to put an end to poverty and accelerate the economic process in the country.

He said that the economy of the country could not be run on the previous pattern and the business community was also called upon in order to help the government in achieving its economic objectives.

The Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan was talking to delegations of Karachi Chambers of Commerce, Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) and Industry (KCCI), and the Automotive Parts Association, who called on him here in Karachi.

Earlier today, Prime Minister Imran Khan arrived in Karachi on a daylong visit along with his economic team. Minister for Maritime Affairs Syed Ali Zaidi, Governor Sindh Imran Ismail, Federal Minister Hammad Azhar, Advisor on Commerce Abdul Razak Dawood, Minister for Water Resources Faisal Vawda, Advisor on Finance Abdul Hafeez Sheikh, Board of Investment Chairman Syed Zubair Haider Gilani, Advisor on Institutional Reforms Ishrat Hussain, Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Shabbar Zaidi, and State Bank Governor Reza Baqir accompanied the prime minister.

The Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan spoke to the delegations where he said that he had reached in Karachi in order to address their issues and find immediate solutions to them.

The FPCCI delegation included Daru Khan Achakzai, SM Munir, Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, Zubair Tufail, Ghazanfar Bilour, Tariq Haleem, Syed Mazhar Ali Nasir and Khalid Tawab whereas the KCCI delegation consisted of Junaid Ismail Makda, Siraj Qasim Teli, Khurram Shahzad, Haroon Farooqi, Zubair Motiwala, Anjum Nisar, Shamim Ahmed Firpu, Haroon Aagar, and Ali GG.

The delegation from the Automotive Parts Association consisted of representatives of Toyota Indus Motors, Hino Pak Motors, Pak Suzuki Motors, Isuzu Motors, Atlas Honda Motors, Master Motors, and Faw Motors.

During the meeting, recommendations were presented by the delegations over the price hike control, tax system reforms, and control over smuggling, investment promotion, and ease of doing business, employment opportunities and revenue generation.

During his visit, the prime minister of Pakistan Imran Khan is also expected to be briefed in a meeting at the Governor House on the ongoing development project in Karachi. In the meeting, PM Imran Khan will meet the party leaders and also the members of the provincial assembly.
