ICC WorldCup 2019 Semifinals 1: New Zealand won the match against India by 18 runs

Manchester: New Zealand won the match in the first semifinals of ICC WorldCup 2019 against India by 18 runs.

New Zealand won the toss and chose to bat first as the match started at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground.

In the first innings, since it wasn’t much of a batting pitch newzie openers didn’t showed their best game as Guptill was sent back at 1 while Nicholls made only 28 runs. Kane Williamson scored 67 runs, Taylor scored 74 runs and Neesham scored 12.

C. de Grandhomme scored 16, Latham scored 10 while Henry scored only a run. Santher at 9 and Boult at 3 remained not out as team set the target of 233 runs.

From Indian side Bhuvneshwar got 3 wickets while Bumrah, Pandya, Jadeja and Chahal bagged 1 wicket each.

The second innings was unexpectedly a mess as both the openers who are known for their brilliant performances were of no use. Rohit and Rahul both scored only a run each. Moreover Captain Virat Kohli was also able to score only a run.

Pant and Pandya scored 32 runs each while Karthik scored 6 runs. MS Dhoni’s half century was also not enough for the team’s victory. Jadeja scored 77 runs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Bhumrah didn’t score any run. Chahal scored only 5 runs.

From New Zealand’s side Henry got 3 wickets, Santher and Boult picked 2 each while Ferguson and Neesham bagged one each.
