ICC WorldCup: West Indies won the match against Afghanistan by 23 runs

London: West Indies won the match in the ICC WorldCup 2018 against Afghanistan by 23 runs.

West Indies won the toss and chose to bat first as the match started at the Headingly Carnegie stadium.

In the first inning however openers were not in good form team managed to set a good target Chris Gayle scored 7 runs while Lewis scored 58 runs. Hope scored 77 runs.

Hetmyar scored 39 runs, Pooran scored 58 runs and Captain Jason Holder scored 45 runs. Carlos Braithwate at 14 and F. Allen at 0 remained not out as the team set the target of 312 runs.

From Afghani side Zadran took 2 wickets while Shirzad, Nabi and Rashid took 1 each.

In the second innings opener R. Shah score 62 runs with the assistance of G. Naib at 5. I. Khil scored 86 runs, N. Zadran scored 31 runs and A. Stanikzai scored 40 runs.

R. Khan scored 9 runs, D. Zadran scored only a run. S. Shirzad at 25 and M. U. Rahman scored 7 runs.

From West Indian side C. Braithwate took 4 wickets, K. Roach took 3 while O. Thomas took one.
