ICC WorldCup 2019: England won the match against New Zealand by 119 runs

London: England won the match in ICC WorldCup 2019 against New Zealand by 119 runs.

English captain Eon Morgan won the toss and chose to bat first as the match started at the Riverside ground.

In the first innings openers made the most of the game as J. Bairstow scored 106 runs with the assitance of J. Roy who scored 60 runs. Root scored 24 runs, Buttler 11 and Captain Eon Morgan scored 42 runs.

Team’s major hitter Ben Stokes scored 11, Woakes 4 and Rashid 16. Plunkett at 16 and Archer at 1 remained not out as the team set the target of 306 runs.

From New Zeland’s side Neesha, Henry and Boult took two wickets each while Santner and Southee took one each.

In the second innings openers were not quite in form as Guptill scored only 8 runs while Nicholls wasn’t able to score any run. Kane Williamson scored 27 runs and Ross Taylor scored 28.

Latham bagged a half century while Neesham and Santner scored 19 and 12 respectively. Grandhomme 3, Southee 7 and Henry also scored 7 runs. Boult was bowled at 4 and thus by sending back all the players England won the match.

From English side, Wood took 3 wickets while Rashid, Stokes, Archer, Plunkett and Woakes took one each.
