Former president of Egypt Mohamed Morsi died; says sources

CAIRO: On Monday, it has been said by the judicial and security sources that, Mohamed Morsi- the Former Egyptian president died in a Cairo hospital after he fainted amid the session in court.

A judicial source said that, “He spoke for 20 minutes before the judge then suddenly became very animated and fainted. He was rushed to the hospital quickly and died there later”.

The death of Morsi was also reported by the official news website. Mohamed Morsi was the first democratically elected president of Egypt but unfortunately he spent only one unstable and stormy year in the office after the 2011 uprising before he was toppled by the army in July 2013.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan- the President of Turkey paid tribute to Morsi by calling him a “martyr” in one of the first condolences from leaders of another country.

It was said by Erdogan, as he had established close ties with Morsi, that “May Allah rest our Morsi brother, our martyr’s soul in peace.”
