ICC WorldCup 2019: England won the nineteenth match against West Indies by 8 wickets

ENGLAND: England won the ninteenth match of ICC WorldCup 2019 against West Indies by 8 wickets.

The match started at the Ross Bowl Ground, Hampshire. England won the toss and decided to bowl first.

In the first innings, West Indian openers tried to it as a good start as Chris Gayle scored 36 runs but the other opener E. Lewis scored only 2 runs. S Hope scored 11. N. Pooran scored a prominent 63 runs with the assistance of S. Hetmyer who scored 39. Captain Jason Holder scored only 9 runs. Andre Russell scored 21 and Carlos Brathwaite scored 14. Gabriel, Thomas and Cottrell didn’t scored a single run for the contribution of the target. Team set the target of 212 runs.

From England’s side, Wood and Archer took 3 wickets, Root snatched 2 while Woakes and Plunkett got 1 each.

In the second innings, world’s best ODI team played a quick and sensible game as the target wasn’t that much. The openers played an extremely amazing innings with Joe Root scored his career best 100 runs for which he was given the title of the man of the match with the assistance of J. Bairstow who scored 45. C. Woakes scored 45 runs while Ben Stokes at 10 remains not out till the target was achieved.

From the West Indian side, S. Gabriel took 2 wickets.
