ICC WorldCup 2019: New Zealand won the thirteenth match against Afghanistan by 8 wickets

TAUNTON: New Zealand won the thirteenth match of ICC WorldCup 2019 against Afghanistan by 8 wickets.

The match started at the County Ground, Taunton. New Zealand won the toss and chose to bowl first.

The first innings was expectedly a little low, but the openers played very confidently as Hazratullah scored 34 giving his assistance N. Ali scored 31 runs. R. Shah didn’t scored any run. H. Shahidi scored a prominent game of 59 runs. The skipper G. Naib and N. Zadran scored 4 runs each. M. Nabi scored 9. I. Khil scored 2 runs with A. Alam at 14 runs. Rashid Khan didn’t score any runs. Team set the target of 172 runs with the loss of all wickets.

From New Zealand’s side L. Ferguson picked 4 wickets, Neesham got 5 while Grandhomme bagged 1.

In the second innings, Guptill unexpectedly didn’t score any run. Munro scored 22 runs. Ross Taylor hit 48 runs while Latham stand not out at 13. Kane Williamson scored 79 runs and was given the title of the man of the match as he played a vital role for the team to win.

From Afgani side A. Alam picked only 3 wickets.
