India won the eighth match of ICC WorldCup 2019 against Potreas by 6 wickets

ENGLAND: India won the eighth match of ICC WorldCup 2019 against Potreas by 6 wickets.

South African skipper Faf du Plessis won the toss and chose to bat first. The match started at the Rose Bowl Cricket Ground in West End, Hampshire.

In the first innings, openers were not able to keep up the pace as their leading batsmen and opener Hashim Amla was caught by Rohit Sharma at 6 while the other opener Quinton de Kock was also caught out by Virat Kohli at 10.

Captain du Plessis scored 38 runs while ve der Dussen scored 22. However, JP Duminy unexpectedly scored only 3 runs. David Miller scored 31 runs and Phehlukwayo scored 34 until he was stumped out by MS Dhoni. C. Morris scored the highest run of the innings i.e 42 until he was caught by Virat Kohli. Imran Tahir didn’t scored any run. Rabada played amazingly in the last over which lead to the total of 227.

From India’s side, Y. Chahal took 4 wickets, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bhumra bagged 2 while K. Yadav got only 1 in his hands.

In the second innings, opener Shikhar Dhawan wasn’t in good form and thus scored only 8 runs. Famous hitter Virat Kohli was also not in hitting order and was sent back by Phehlukwayo at 18.

K. L Rahul and MS Dhoni scored 26 and 34 respectively. The most prominent game in today’s match was played by Rohit Sharma who took the team to the path of victory by scoring 122 runs standing on strike till the very end of the match. Pandiya who came after Dhoni scored 15 runs and was also not out.

From Potreas, Rabada took two wickets while Morris and Phehlukwayo grabbed one each.

Rohit Sharma was given the title of the player of the match.
