LOS ANGELES: After the conclusion of the Skywalker saga in December, the next venture of Walt Disney Co’s into the Star Wars galaxy will be from the creators of global hit Game of Thrones from HBO, the chief executive of the company said on Tuesday.
Last week, it was announced by Disney that Star Wars movies has been scheduled by them for December 2022, 2024 and 2026 but no other details were revealed by them. Those would be the first Star Wars films after Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker in December 2019.
Chief Executive Bob Iger spoke at an investor conference on Tuesday, where it was confirmed that the 2022 film would come from D B Weiss and David Benioff, the creators of medieval fantasy series Game of Thrones. No other details were provided by him.
It has been mentioned by Disney that the will tell a story different from the Skywalker saga that started with the original 1977 Star Wars film.
It has also been announced by the company that a separate triology of “Star Wars” in the works by Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson. They did not reveal the release date yet.
