KARACHI: In the Second eliminator of Pakistan Super League 2019, Islamabad United gets eliminated by Peshawar Zalmi by 48 runs at the National Cricket Stadium, Karachi.
Islamabad United were having the skipper Mohammad Sami, Luke Ronchi, Sahibzada Farhan, Cameron Delport, Waqas Maqsood, Rizwan Hussain, Hussain Talat, Philip Salt, Asif Ali, Faheem Ashraf, Rizwan Hussain, Shadab Khan, SR Patel, Ian Bell, Muhammad Musa, Rumman Raees, WD Parnell.
While in Peshawar Zalmi’s squad there was captain Darren Sammy, Kamran Akmal, Imam-ul-Haq, Misbah-ul-Haq, Sohaib Maqsood, Kieron Pollard, Liam Dawson, Umar Amin, Wahab Riaz, Hasan Ali, Umaid Asif, Sameen Gul, Ibtisam Sheikh, DJ Malan, WL Madsen.
Islamabad United lifted the coin up and chose to bowl first in this semi-final of PSL-4.
First innings was a total power packed one with mind blowing performances by Kamran Akmal and Imam ul Haq who were standing steady hitting a milestone partnership of 132 runs with Kamran Akmal’s 78 and Imam’s 54 until Imam was knocked out by Delport. Pollard was the next to deliver some action filled innings with 37 with Sammy on 30 not out where in between Sohaib was bowled out by Shadab on 4. From the Islamabad’s side Shadab Khan got a single wicket while Delport got two wickets for the match.
In the second innings, Ronchi and Delport were barely in form causing the loss of some early wickets. Walton scored 48 which made it looked like the target was achievable but the lost of wickets in the final over lost all the hopes for Islamabad fans. For Zalmi side, Hasan Ali and Chris Jordan got three wickets each while Wahab Riaz, KA Pollard and TS Mills got one wickets from the match.
Peshawar Zalmi is all set to face Quetta Gladiators on Sunday at National Stadium Karachi for the finals of Pakistan Super League 2019.
