Brigadier Asad Munir commits suicide in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: The police sources informed in Friday that suicide have been committed by the Former member of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), Brigadier (retd) Asad Munir.

The police sources further informed that the body of the Former member of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), Brigadier (retd) Asad Munir was found hanging from the ceiling fan in the diplomatic enclave in his apartment in Islamabad. Asad Munir was also a former intelligence operative.

Asad Munir was upset due to the media reports that ran a day earlier. The family sources informed that the news stated that the approval for the filing of a reference against Asad Munir was granted by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) during its executive board meeting. Munir has been accused by NAB of misusing his authority and restoring a plot in F-11 area of the federal capital.

The family of Asad Munir requested not to perform an autopsy of the body. The Islamabad deputy commissioner accepted the request of the family and the body was returned subsequently upon the completion of legal formalities.

The Former member of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), Brigadier (retd) Asad Munir would be laid to rest in H-8 graveyard.

Condolences were extended over demise of Munir by the chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
