ABU DHABI: Quetta Gladiators maintained their leading position by defeating Islamabad United by 43 runs in the twenty-sixth match of the fourth edition of Pakistan Super league

While Quetta Gladiators had Shane Watson, Ahmed Shehzad, Rilee Rossouw, Umar Akmal, Sarfraz Ahmed, Dwayne Smith, Mohammad Nawaz, Ghulam Mudassar, Sohail Tanvir, Mohammad Irfan, Fawad Ahmed, Ahsan Ali, Anwar Ali, Mohammad Asghar, Saud Shakeel.
Captain Mohammad Sami from Islamabad United has won the toss and opted to field first against Quetta Gladiators at Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Zayed Stadium.
Unmatchable half century hit by the opener Ahmed Shehzad helped Quetta Gladiators to set a not so easily approachable target of 181 runs.
Shehzad scored 73 runs off forty-six with 10 boundaries while batsman Umar Akmal contributed 27 off 17 to the total.
Faheem Ashraf picked four wickets, Ammad Butt picked three, also Samit Patel and Zafar Gauhar gained one each.
This was the second match played at Abu Dhabi, previously Peshawar Zalmi had snatched their victory.
Islamabad United while chasing the target set by Quetta of 181, were able to score only 137 on the loss of 9 in 20 overs. Moreover, the bowling side of Quetta did brilliantly to restricted Islamabad to record a 43 runs victory.
Gladiators are at the top position maintaining their pace snatching some back to back victories, leaving the scrap for the final two qualification places wide open.
Quetta Gladiators are on the top of the table at the moment with 12 points and a net run rate of 0.199, while Islamabad United are on the third with eight points and a net run rate of 0.12.
