BALLOKI: On Saturday, it was said by Prime Minister Imran Khan that giving NRO (National Reconciliation Ordinance) to anyone will be equivalent to betrayal.
The report related to the giving NRO was disprove by Prime Minister once again while addressing a ceremony of the launch of the spring tree plantation campaign in Balloki and it was asserted by him that, “No-one will get an NRO.”
Furthermore, it was added by him that, “Those who are thinking that NRO will be given to anyone by us should get that it will consider as a betrayal and disloyalty to the country.”
It was explained by the Prime Minister Imran Khan that, “very big suspects are being forgiven by NRO. There were two NROs who destroyed the country and our current circumstances are owing to that.”
It was further stated by the premier that, “One NRO was given by General (retd) Pervez Musharraf to Nawaz Sharif. A case was ready against the Sharif brothers concerning to the Hudaibiya Paper Mills and the confessional statement of Ishaq Dar about how money laundering was done was also present. On the other hand, NRO was given by Musharraf to Nawaz in order to save his own seat and let Nawaz leave the Sudia Arabia.”
“However, on the Swiss case of Asif Zardari, there were Rs 2 billion from the national exchequer that spent and in London, there was a Surrey Mansion case which was won by the Pakistan government and the country was to get the money, though an NRO was signed and that case was closed.”
It was continued by the Prime Minister that, “The powerful impression given by these two NRO was that theft is no big deal and no matter how much you steal, the powerful thieves are not caught in Pakistan.”
“The result of this was that from 2008 to 2018, two leaders who were given NRO governed for five years each. In 2008, Pakistan’s debt stood at Rs6,000 billion but after the terms of the two leaders it rose to Rs30,000 billion as they had no fear,” added by Imran Khan.
It was said by the Prime Minister Imran Khan that, “The nation is suffering today because it own these two NROs, the prices of commodities have increased and the value of rupee has fallen. When you take loans and leave historic debts, then the nation will have to pay.”
“Today, I see on TV the faces of those who increased our debts questioning what we have done in the last five months. They are the ones who left us in debt and are asking us for answers,” stated by the premier.
The Prime Minister emphasized while questioning how the previous leaders have the courage to say they “did good work”. “We will not leave anyone who made the country bankrupt.”
Moreover, he added that, “We are asking those for accountability who destroyed the country. This is tabdeeli (change).”
It was said by the Prime Minister by taking the hit at Shehbaz Sharif- the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President that, “In this history of democracy it has never happened that a man becomes the chairman of Public Accounts Committee from jail and then summons the accountability watchdog (NAB) which is probing him. ”
The Prime Minister emphasized that, “From now on there will be no favors given to the corrupt people.”
